In addition to the personal attention given to you every step of the way, special attention is given to the aged. On the day of your procedure it is important to arrive at the scheduled time. Wear comfortable clothing and leave valuables at home.
Following your procedure, you will spend a period of time in the Recovery Room, where you will be observed and cared for by nurses and physicians. You will need to be escorted home, since medications used to sedate you can affect your judgment and coordination, even after you are fully awake. Arrange for a friend or family member to pick you up.
When you arrive home, rest and do not drive or operate any machinery for at least 24 hours. It is important that you follow your physician’s instructions regarding diet, activity, rest and medication. If a medical problem arises, call your physician and 911.
The Endoscopy Center of Queens has an affiliation with Mount Sinai of Queens should you be required to be transferred.
